Dr. Sarosh Rana is an Associate Professor and Section Chief for Maternal-Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Chicago. The current focus of her research is the use of angiogenic biomarkers for the prediction of preeclampsia related adverse maternal and fetal outcomes and evaluation of their use for risk stratification of patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. She has conducted several studies suggesting that these angiogenic biomarkers are specific to the form of preeclampsia associated with serious adverse outcomes.

Dr. Rana’s other research interests include cardiomyopathy associated with preeclampsia. In addition, she is currently studying maternal and fetal outcomes among women with preeclampsia in Haiti, a developing nation where serious outcomes including maternal deaths are high. These ongoing collaborating studies aim to evaluate the use of angiogenic biomarkers to decrease such mortality.
