Dr. Sarah Dennis Meskill is board-certified in both Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She comes to the Tricoastal Narcolepsy and Sleep Disorders Center with a strong background in navigating difficult pediatric cases and knowledge of how integral sleep is for proper development. Dr. Sarah Meskill was a competitive lacrosse player taking her team to win 3 straight state championships. This led her to Johns Hopkins University (known for lacrosse AND medicine) for college. She graduated with her BA in Biology after being on the Dean’s List every semester and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, a prestigious academic honor society. For medical school, she attended Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY. She won two awards including the Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Award for graduating in the top 10% of her medical school class.
Dr. Sarah Meskill completed her pediatrics residency at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore for Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Before going to fellowship, she worked at Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara as a pediatric hospital specialist for one year in California. Her fellowship training brought the family to Houston, Texas where Dr. Sarah Meskill completed a three-year fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Texas Children’s Hospital. Since graduating from fellowship in 2016, Dr. Sarah Meskill has been practicing at Texas Children’s Hospital. While practicing there, she has continued to win awards for her dedication to patient care (Shamrock Award).
Dr. Sarah Meskill served as the Director of PEM Fellows Research Education for Texas Children’s Hospital from 2016-2022. In that role, she facilitated monthly lectures on topics pertinent to research, critical appraisal of journal articles, review of pertinent literature to pediatric emergency medicine, and structured guidance of fellow research projects via iterative feedback and review sessions. This work was taken beyond the PEM department when she became the research education director for Baylor College of Medicine Fellows College. In that role, she lectured to the fellows and coordinated a lecture series to educate all fellows on important research topics.
Dr. Sarah Meskill is passionate about research and education. She is currently completing her Masters of Science in Clinical Research through the University of Texas Houston to strengthen her research skills, such as designing studies, handling large data, refining and expanding knowledge on statistics, and developing guidelines. She has had several NIH-funded studies on Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and other respiratory illnesses. She reviews journal article submissions for many top journals including Hospital Pediatrics and Journal of Infectious Disease. She has also contributed to book chapters and was on NPR’s All Things Considered for her knowledge of respiratory viral coinfections.
