Sarah Hooper Hooper JD, BA

Dr. Sarah Hooper is the Assistant Director of Programs of the UCSF / UC Hastings Consortium on Law, Science & Health Policy and an Adjunct Professor at UC Hastings College of Law.

Ms. Hooper earned her Juris Doctor at UC Hastings College of Law and is admitted to practice in California. Ms. Hooper joined the Consortium in its early stages of development as a Senior Legal Research Fellow. In addition to assisting in all aspects of program development, she conducted research on advance health care directives in collaboration with UCSF faculty at the San Francisco Veteran’s Administration. The collaboration resulted in a publication in the Annals of Internal Medicine entitled "Lost in Translation: The Unintended Consequences of Advance Directive Law on Clinical Care."

The collaboration also provided inspiration for development of the Medical-Legal Partnership for Seniors (MLPS), the Consortium’s major initiative in clinical training and service. The MLPS, launched in 2012, is a clinical course offering in which law students provide free legal assistance to older adults seen through UCSF Medical Center. Hastings faculty and students work alongside UCSF providers to meet the intersecting health and legal needs of older adults.
