Sarah Hammond graduated from Nottingham University in 2001 with Honours and has pursued a successful career in anaesthesia. She has been a consultant anaesthetist with a general and high risk obstetric specialist interest at St George's since 2010. Sarah is a full-time consultant anaesthetist participating on 2 on-call rotas; obstetrics and general. She has a broad portfolio of experience including major oncology surgery, emergency surgery and obstetrics. She works amongst a leading urological and maternity team. She is a highly motivated clinical leader and is passionate about improving patient safety, clinical governance and staff engagement to enable change through quality improvement. This is evidenced through her previous roles as Clinical Governance Lead for Anaesthetics and Theatres; the establishment of a successful group of multidisciplinary theatre user groups addressing a broad range of issues from efficiency to morale and creating a junior doctor engagement, patient safety and quality improvement programme. Sarah has broad experience in being able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams to deliver change. Sarah has successfully completed the NHS Leadership Academy Executive Fast Track Programme which involved executive education at Harvard Kennedy School along with time in private industry and completion of a transformational change project.
