Dr Sarah Flatters graduated from University College London with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology in 1998. Following an Industrial Collaborative MRC Studentship between Novartis and University College London, she obtained her PhD in Pharmacology in 2002. Dr Flatters was awarded the first Ronald Melzack Research Fellowship following an international competition in 2002. With this fellowship, she undertook three years of post-doctoral research at McGill University, Montreal, Canada during which she was awarded the Dr. Kresimir Krnjevic Award for Outstanding Trainee Research. In 2005, Dr Flatters moved to Harvard Medical School, Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, USA for a two-year Senior Research Fellowship. Dr. Flatters was appointed as a BBSRC Academic Fellow within the Centre for Integrative Biomedicine in October 2007.
