Sarah Elizabeth Wakeman MD, FASAM

Sarah Wakeman, MD is the Medical Director for Substance Use Disorders at the Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Community Health Improvement. She designs systems of care that draw on the strengths of communities to care for patients and residents with addictions. Sarah also practices in the Adult Medicine Department of the MGH Charlestown HealthCare Center.

She received her undergraduate and medical degrees from Brown University. Following her residency, at MGH she served as a chief resident in medicine at MGH. She also completed the Chief Resident Immersion Training in Addiction Medicine through Boston University. Sarah is the author of many peer-reviewed articles on substance use disorders and incarceration.
