Sarah E. Berini MD

Dr. Sarah E. Berini is a board-certified neurologist and neuromuscular specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral neuropathies, autonomic neuropathies, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and other complex neuromuscular disorders, with particular expertise in electromyography (EMG) and autonomic nervous system disorders.

Dr. Berini earned her M.D. from the University of Minnesota Medical School and completed her neurology residency at the University of Michigan. She subsequently pursued advanced fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in peripheral nerve disorders, clinical neurophysiology, electromyography, and autonomic disorders, establishing a strong foundation in neuromuscular medicine.

Her clinical and research interests focus on peripheral nerve disease, small-fiber neuropathy, autonomic dysfunction, inflammatory neuropathies, and rare neuromuscular conditions. Dr. Berini has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications investigating autoimmune neuropathies, autonomic failure syndromes, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), and other neurologic disorders.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Berini is actively involved in medical education and professional leadership. She has received multiple teaching awards from Mayo Clinic and serves in leadership and committee roles within organizations such as the American Academy of Neurology, American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and American Autonomic Society. She is also a core faculty member for Mayo Clinic’s Autonomic Disorders Fellowship program.
