Sarah E. Barnhard MD, FCAP, FASCP

As a subspecialty pathologist in transfusion services, Dr. Barnhard devotes her clinical time to see both inpatients and outpatients on the apheresis consult service. She also oversees blood bank functions and performs consultative services from the transfusion services department.

She teaches medical students, residents, and fellows in all aspects of transfusion medicine best practices and is highly integrated with the hospital quality and safety personnel regarding blood transfusion practices health-system wide. She has a passionate interest in integrating health informatics with diagnostic testing and clinical care to improve system efficiency and data accessibility.
