Sara Szabo MD, PhD

Dr. Szabo has several areas of clinic-pathologic and collaborative research interests. Patient-centered clinicopathologic correlation in a mainstay of her practice, in collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical teams and practice centers such as Tumor Board for oncology, Birthmark and Vascular Anomalies Center and Clinic, pediatric surgery, pulmonology, liver transplant team and other specialties. She is engaged in Quality Assurance and Patient Safety in Diagnostics and hospital-wide. For several years, she’s aimed at seamless integration of teaching pediatric pathology into post-graduate physician educational programs in pathology and pediatric subspecialties (in resident, fellow and continuous medical education). She studies placental pathology as associated with poor fetal outcome, in search for markers and aiding causative investigations, in local and national multidisciplinary research and clinical teams, including support of the Children’s Hospital Fetal Concerns Center and neonatology.
