Sara Kay Wheeler focuses on healthcare and health law. As a partner in our Healthcare practice, Sara Kay advises clients on a range of healthcare-related compliance and regulatory matters and also defends healthcare providers in enforcement investigations. Sara Kay represents a diverse array of organizations, including health systems, academic medical centers, health plans, faculty practice plans and entities involved in the drug delivery system, including retail and chain pharmacies, specialty pharmacies, pharmacy benefit managers and retail clinics. In addition, she works with our Government and Internal Investigations practice to defend healthcare providers being investigated by federal and state enforcement entities.
Sara Kay has extensive experience in the creation and implementation of corporate compliance programs and investigations, government contractor audits, Medicare regulation (including Part D issues), Medicaid regulation (including managed care, audit and enforcement matters), fraud and abuse concerns, internal investigations, voluntary disclosure strategies, clinical research compliance, privacy matters and managed care arrangements.
Sara Kay currently serves as Immediate Past President of the Health Care Compliance Association/Society of Corporate Compliance & Ethics (HCCA/SCCE) Board of Directors and is a member of the HCCA/SCCE Executive Committee. She is a past President of the Georgia Academy of Healthcare Attorneys and chaired the Advisory Council for the Health Law Partnership (HeLP), a collaboration among the Georgia State University College of Law, the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
