Santo Davide Ferrara received his first degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua in 1971. After this first degree, he continued his academic enrichment specializing in both Legal Medicine and in Toxicology at the same University. His formal education concluded with advanced training carried out in Us Universities, where he was involved in the development of an applied research program focused on Legal Medicine. Analytical and Behavioural Toxicology fields. On his return from the US he was assigned the roles of Researcher, then Adjunct Professor, and finally Associate Professor at the University of Padova and the University of Ancona. He continued his career achieving the title of Full Professor in 1990 at the University of Parma. Additionally, from 1989-90 to 1996 he acted as Director of the Legal Medicine Institute at the University of Ancona as well as the Director of the Specialization School at the University of Parma. Since 1996 he has been a Full Professor at the University of Padova and contemporarily was named Director of the Forensic Toxicology and Antidoping Complex Structure of Padova University-Hospital. In 1999 he was nominated Director of the Specialization School of Legal Medicine at the University of Padova. During his tenure in Padova. among his other duties, he focused on the promotion and development of an International Center of Forensic and Behavioural Toxicology involved in providing clinical assistance as well as applied research. To date this Center is made up of over 25 dlinicians and researchers with degrees and specialties in various areas including physics, chemistry, and medicine, biology who promote research on the effects of phamaceuticals, drugs, toxins, and doping substances.
