Santiago Orrego MSc, PhD

Santiago is an Assistant Professor in the Kornberg School of Dentistry/Bioengineering Department at Temple University. His contributions in science, academia, and industry focus on the intersection between smart materials, mechanics and medicine. His active research program includes utilizing smart materials in biomedical applications for improved treatment and diagnosis (theranostics) of disease.

Santiago was a Postdoctoral Fellow at The Johns Hopkins University in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Hopkins Extreme Materials Institute under the guidance of Prof. Sung Hoon Kang. Santiago received his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County under the supervision of Prof. Dwayne Arola.
