Santiago Munoz Fernandez graduated in Medicine in 1988 from the Autonomous University of Madrid and attended the training period as a specialist at the La Paz University Hospital, where he was an area specialist from 1993 to 2008. From then until now, he is the chief of Rheumatology of the Infanta Sofía University Hospital. He is a Doctor of Medicine and Surgery with the qualification of Apto "cum laude" by the Autonomous University of Madrid on October 28, 1997 with the Doctoral Thesis entitled "The antiperinuclear factor in rheumatoid arthritis"; Honorary Professor of the Autonomous University of Madrid from 1997 to 2007 and Associate Professor at the Complutense University of Madrid since October 2010. Dr. Santiago Munoz Fernandez, head of Rheumatology at University Hospital Infanta Sofía , located in San Sebastian de los Reyes, has taken office as president of the Spanish Society of Rheumatology (SER) until 2014.
