Associate Professor Sanj Wickremasinghe is a Senior Research Fellow in CERA’s Clinical Trials Research Centre. He completed his ophthalmology training in the UK at Moorfields Eye Hospital, during which time he completed sub-specialty training in Medical Retina and Uveitis. He undertook a second Medical Retina Fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital that incorporated both clinical and research experience.

Since 2009 he has held appointments at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and at CERA. He has conducted his own research into the treatment and investigation of factors affecting the outcomes of treatment in patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. A/Prof Wickremasinghe is a principal investigator in several multi-center international and national drug trials of new treatments in macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema and retinal vein occlusion and has written over 60 peer-reviewed articles for top-ranked journals.
