Sanjay A. Patel MD, FACP, FHM

Dr. Patel earned his medical degree from Ross University in Dominica. He completed his residency and chief residency at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL. Since then he has worked as a hospitalist and proceduralist at Cook County Hospital. Since 2015, Dr. Patel has been the Director of the Medical Procedures Service at the John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

He has been involved in a variety of Procedural teaching courses including the SHM Annual Pre-Course. In addition, he has created a house staff curriculum to further ultrasound skills beyond procedures to include a longitudinal Point-of-Care Ultrasound program for the Internal Medicine residency program at Cook County Hospital. He works solely on the teaching service at Cook County Hospital, training house staff and medical students from 3 different medical schools in the region. He is an exceptional teacher and for his teaching prowess, he has won several teaching and humanitarian awards at his hospital.
