Dr. Sanja Medenica was born in Bar, where she completed primary and secondary school. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade and received a Certificate of Commendation from the Faculty of Medicine for the best fifth-year student. She completed postgraduate specialist academic studies as well as doctoral studies in endocrinology at the same faculty and obtained the title of Doctor of Medical Sciences. She completed her medical internship at KBC Zvezdara, after which she worked as a volunteer clinical physician at the Department of Thyroid Diseases at the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolic Diseases of the Clinical Center of Serbia.

She was an assistant in the course of Histology with Embryology, as well as in the course of Internal Medicine, and 2022 she was elected to the position of Assistant Professor in the course of Internal Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Montenegro.

Since 2012, she has been employed at the Department of Endocrinology of the Internal Clinic of the Clinical Center of Montenegro, first as a clinical physician, and then as a resident of Internal Medicine, which she completed at the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 2019, and she completed her specialization in endocrinology at the same faculty in 2022. Doctor Sanja Medenica has been the EYES ambassador for Montenegro since 2018. He is currently the secretary of the Association of Endocrinologists of Montenegro.

She is the winner of the award for the best presentation of the paper entitled 'Use of sulfonylurea derivatives with modified release in type 2 diabetics to assess the quality of glycoregulation, cardiovascular and kidney protection', awarded by the Croatian Society for Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases of the Croatian Medical Association, as well as the winner of the award for the best oral presentation in the Reproductive Endocrinology session at the EYES 2022 congress. As a first-place winner in the EYES Clinical Observership Program, during 2022 she attended education at the Policlinico Universitario Gemelli in Rome under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Alfredo Pontecorvi.
