Sandro Pignata MD

Sandro Pignata was born in 1962 in Naples, Italy. He received his M.D. Degree in 1986 at the University Federico II of Naples, and subsequently the specialty in Oncology at the same University. Dr. Pignata is Director of the Uro-Gynecological Department of the National Cancer Institute “G.Pascale” Foundation, Napoli, Italy. Dr. Pignata is member of the Italian Association of Medical Oncology (AIOM) and of the EORTC Gynecologic Group.

Dr. Pignata is the founder and current president of the MITO group (Multicenter Italian Trial in Ovarian cancer and gynaecologic malignancies), which includes about 80 Italian centers involved in the care of gynaecologic cancers. Since 2005, the MITO group is associated to the GCIG (Gynecological Cancer InterGroup), and dr Pignata is member of the GCIG executive board. As president of the MITO group, dr. Pignata is the coordinator of several trials in gynaecologic oncology,
