Dr. Taler is a Professor of Medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where she is a Staff Consultant in the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension and in the William Von Liebig Center for Transplantation and Clinical Regeneration. After receiving her medical degree from Mayo Medical School, Rochester, MN, she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN followed by fellowships in Hypertension and Nephrology at Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA.

Dr. Taler's clinical and research interests include hypertension guidelines, treatment of resistant hypertension, post-transplant hypertension, the evaluation and follow-up of living kidney donors, and the care of kidney transplant recipients. She has received research funding from the NIH and has published more than 70 articles and book chapters in nephrology and hypertension. She has served on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Hypertension (as a member, secretary, and vice-president) and chairs the ASH Specialist Examination and the ASH Certified Hypertension Clinician Examination.

She has been actively involved in hypertension education at Mayo Clinic and at the national level. Dr. Taler served on the panel appointed to the 8th Joint National Committee (JNC-8) and is an author of the 2014 Evidence-Based Guideline. She is currently serving on the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Hypertension Guideline Writing Committee. In May 2014, Dr. Taler received the Marvin Moser Award, the highest award for a Clinician from ASH.
