Sandra G. Adams, MD, MS is a Professor of Medicine in the Pulmonary / Critical Care Division of The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) and Staff Physician at The South Texas Veterans Health Care System. Dr. Adams is an internationally recognized leader in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and the chronic care model. She has a strong interest and expertise in education and teaching.

Dr. Adams is a member of The Academy of Master Teachers, is recognized by the Chancellor of the University of Texas System as a Distinguished Teaching Professor, and recently received the UTHSCSA Presidential Teaching Award. She was co-chair and co-developer of the interactive workshops delivered to primary care clinicians in 21 cities across the United States entitled “COPD: What Really Works? A Best Practices Workshop for Primary Care”, which resulted in significantly improved clinician self-confidence and knowledge as well as significant changes in clinical practice. She received her Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation degree in 2003.
