Sandra Fuentes, PA (ASCP)CM first graduated from the University of El Salvador and completed a residency in surgical pathology there. Sandra is currently recognized as a leader in breast surgical pathology with more than 15 years of experience. For the past seven years, she has been mentored by the world-renowned breast pathologists at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer. At MD Anderson, she has played an instrumental role in setting up and providing training for other pathologists’ assistants as well as fellows from many different groups and countries.
She has shown herself to be very knowledgeable in handling both benign and complex surgical breast resections. Sandra has a strong collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to work with a wide range of individuals that include breast surgeons, radiologists, and breast pathologists. Her specialty clinical interests include radical mastectomies, intra-operative evaluations, radioactive seed segmental mastectomies, and tissue harvesting.
