Dr. Sam Dorn is a professor in the Department of Endodontics at The University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, where he also holds the Frank B. Trice, DDS, Professorship in Endodontics. Dr. Dorn received his DDS from Fairleigh Dickinson University School of Dentistry and served in the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. Previously, he was an adjunct professor of endodontics at the University of Florida, in addition to maintaining a private practice in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was the founding director of postgraduate endodontics at Nova Southeastern University.

Dr. Dorn is a past president of the American Association of Endodontists (2002-03), and also has served as a director on the association's board of directors. He is a past director and officer of the American Board of Endodontics and has been a trustee of the AAE Foundation. He is a past president of the International Federation of Endodontic Associations.

He is a diplomate of the ABE and fellow of the American and International Colleges of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy. Dr. Dorn has authored many articles and textbook chapters, and lectured extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America.In 2013, he was the recipient of the Coolidge Award for Lifetime Achievement, the highest award presented by the American Association of Endodontists.
