Samuel Eisenstein BS, MD

Samuel Eisenstein, MD, is a colon and rectal surgeon, specializing in the treatment of colon cancer and other intestinal disorders, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. He is an expert in the surgical treatment of anorectal disorders such as hemorrhoids, fistulas and fissures.

Dr. Eisenstein performs a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures including laparoscopy, single-incision laparoscopy, robotic surgery, transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) and transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS).

Samuel Eisenstein, MD is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Eisenstein’s research is focused on colon cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases and the association between anal fistulae and Crohn’s disease. He also studies the immune system’s involvement in cancer development and the potential for using oncolytic viruses (viruses that kill cancer cells) to treat certain cancers. His research has been published in a variety of journals, including Cancer Research and Journal of Cell Science & Therapy.

Dr. Eisenstein completed his fellowship in colorectal surgery and his general surgery residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree from Brandeis University. Dr. Eisenstein is board-certified in general surgery.
