Dr. Samir Shah completed his medical education at Seth G S Medical College in India and then trained as a Pediatric Surgeon. He completed his Pediatrics residency at the Brooklyn Hospital Center NY, Pediatric Critical Care Medicine fellowship at Harbor- UCLA Medical Center, and Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Medicine training at the Heart Institute in Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. From 2001 – 2008, he served as Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba and Pediatric Intensivist at Children’s Hospital, Winnipeg.

Dr. Shah joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in 2008. Besides attending the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and the Cardiac Critical Care Unit, he has pioneered the Procedural Sedation program for Magnetoencephalography. He currently serves as the Medical Director for the ECMO and Apheresis programs.

Dr. Shah is keenly involved in clinical research. He is currently investigating the development, validation and implementation of a severe sepsis scoring tool. He co-directs the Critical Care Education Program for Pediatric residents, and is developing medical simulation modules for both Pediatric residents and PCCM fellows.
