Sami L. Khella MD, FCPP

Dr. Sami Khella is Professor of Clinical Neurology at the University of Pennsylvania and Past Chief of the Department of Neurology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He is a neuromuscular specialist who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After graduation, he did a residency in neurology and a fellowship in neuromuscular diseases at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He has done clinical research on neuromuscular disorders for many years and is the author and coauthor of many papers on peripheral neuropathy and a textbook on neurological disorders.

Dr. Khella's interest in neuromuscular diseases is ultimately in the service of his patients. This interest spans the clinical, community, and scientific spectra. Along with colleagues at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, he developed several highly regarded centers that are recognized regionally, nationally, and internationally. These include centers of excellence in the care of patients with Myasthenia Gravis and of peripheral neuropathies, namely Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP). The former is recognized by the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (MGFA), and the latter is recognized by the GBS/CIDP Foundation International.

Additionally, he sits on each of their scientific boards. Also, he is the co-founder of the Penn Amyloidosis Center, which is one of the largest centers in the nation treating patients with amyloidosis. All of these programs excel clinically and participate in cutting-edge research and clinical trials.
