Sami Elhassani MD

Doctor Sami Elhassani graduated from University of Baghdad School of Medicine and completed his internship at Meriden Hospital in Connecticut and pediatric residency at District of Columbia General Hospital in Washington DC. Upon completing his pediatric residency, he finished two years of research fellowship in neonatology at the University of Southern California and the University of Missouri in Columbia Missouri. Dr. Elhassani was one of South Carolina first neonatologists and has worked in Spartanburg’s two hospitals for the last 43 years. Dr. Elhassani has practiced in many settings around the country and in many places overseas.

The South Carolina Medical Association Continuous Medical Education awarded” physician of the year” to Dr. Elhassani in 2011 and was honored by the Spartanburg County Medical Society as the D.C. Hull Physician-of-the year in 2016. In addition to his work at the state and local medical organizations, he has published over 100 articles and over 53 scientific presentations. Dr. Elhassani is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and is certified by the sub-board of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
