Prof. Sami Akbulut was born in 1976 in the Eastern region of Turkey. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. Afterward, He had General Surgery training at Baskent University Faculty of Medicine between 2003-2008. During specialty training, he learned the details of liver and kidney transplantation from Dr. Mehmet Haberal, known worldwide for organ transplantation. After this, He started my medical and academic practice at Diyarbakır Education and Research Hospital. He had post-specialty training for liver transplantation between 2011-2012 at the Inonu University Faculty of Medicine Liver Transplantation Institute which is one of the most important centers in the world for liver transplantation. He was granted membership in the International College of Surgeons (FICS) in 2012 and the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 2013. He wrote more than 300 papers during the last ten years period and nearly 200 of these were published in journals indexed by SCI and SCIE. Most of his articles are about hepatobiliary surgery, liver transplantation, Hydatid disease, and appendiceal diseases. He is still working as a full Professor at the Department of Surgery and Liver Transplant Institute, Inonu University Faculty of Medicine, Malatya, Turkey.
