Sam Oddie was appointed Consultant Neonatologist for Bradford Neonatology in 2004. He has diverse research interests within neonatology and other fields and leads the children’s and neonatal research team. He was formerly a member of the BPSU committee, and now is the clinical lead for the RCPCH National Neonatal Audit Programme where he tries to focus neonatal QI on emerging, as well as established, evidence. He has acted as principal investigator for a wide variety of research projects within Bradford, mostly relating to neonatology, and is an investigator in a wide variety of research projects including the CORD, ELFIN, and PREVAIL trials. He is a co-chief investigator for PREVAIL. His proudest achievement, besides working with a fantastic and expanding research and clinical team, is the integration of research into the clinical care provided in the neonatal unit.

Sam is a reformed southerner. He trained in the North East but has been a consultant in Bradford since 2004. He has worked as part of the network clinical effectiveness team, been seconded to the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination at York, worked with teams delivering and developing observational and randomized clinical trials, and has been Clinical Lead for the RCPCH National Neonatal Audit Programme (NNAP) since 2014. He leads the children and neonatal research team for Bradford.
