Dr. Salman Ahmad, MD, is a highly experienced critical care and surgical trauma surgeon at MU Health Care in Columbia, Missouri. He specializes in surgical critical care, trauma surgery, and general surgery, providing both elective and emergency surgical care for a wide range of conditions, including trauma, burns, wounds, hernias, and acute surgical emergencies. Dr. Ahmad earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and completed his general surgery residency at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center. He further pursued advanced training in surgical critical care through a fellowship at the University of California, Davis. He is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery with added certification in Surgical Critical Care.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Ahmad holds key leadership and academic roles: he serves as Director of Quality and Outcomes in the Department of Surgery, Program Director of the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, and Associate Professor of Surgery (Acute Care Surgery) at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. His research interests include medical informatics and data analytics, cardiac resuscitation, and monitoring, reflecting his commitment to advancing care in critical care and trauma. Dr. Ahmad has contributed to the surgical literature with publications on trauma physiology and emergency surgical care and has received multiple honors throughout his academic and clinical career.
