Sal Ciresi graduated from the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 1974 and attended the Army Officer Basic Course that same year. He was commissioned as a First Lieutenant with his first assignment at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He subsequently was accepted into the US Army School of Nurse Anesthesia in 1975 and served 22 years as a military CRNA with a total service time of 27 years.

He has held several administrative and faculty positions both in the military and civilian community to include the Program Director for Nurse Anesthesia at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Sal received his Master in Nursing from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington presenting his Master's thesis findings at the American Society of Thoracic Surgery in 1980. He also earned his Ph.D. in Health Services Administration from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia in 1991 presenting his findings at an International Nursing Conference in St Johns, Newfoundland. For his service in the Army, he earned entrance into the Order of Military Medical Merit and retired as a Colonel in the US Army.

Sal has published several articles in both Military Medicine and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He has had the opportunity to lecture on numerous anesthesia topics at the national level. Sal currently resides in Huntersville, NC and is a Staff CRNA at Novant Health Medical Center Huntersville.
