Dr. Saji Philip is an outstanding Pediatrician, who graduated from Bangalore University in 1986 with a Gold medal. Post graduation in Pediatrics from Christian Medical College, Ludhiana in 1993. He was practicing both Pediatrics and Epileptology since 1993. His enormous interest in serving Cardiac and Epileptic patients lead to edit the first Indian book “ Manual on Seizure disorders ". He was selected for Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship in 1999 as a nominee of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and the Association of Asian Pacific Pediatric Association. He took his Fellowship from the National Taiwan University College of Medicine and received special training for Pediatric Interventional Cardiology from Hope Children Heart Institute, Chicago Illinois.
He conducted Medical Research in Cardio Vascular Science and established an experimental Immune complex vasculitis model in swine with clinical implications for Kawasaki disease (Pediatric Research 2004:55:211-219) and his further research in Animal Technology Institute Taiwan enlightened the prevention of coronary artery complications in Kawasaki disease with high doses of antioxidants which were presented as a doctoral thesis. He has presented various papers at National and International Congresses. He has also published many papers including his latest research publication in Pediatric research. Most of his publications and studies on Kawasaki disease. He served as a Secretary of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Alleppey Unit in 1998 and secretary of the IMA AMS Mavelikara chapter during the period of 2005-2008. Presently he is the president of the IMA AMS Mavelikara chapter.
He received a young research award at the Asian pacific congress of cardiology in 2007 held in Taipei. Recently he was awarded Rotary medical achievement awards for completing 270 heart operations for poor children. Presently he is the clinical and administrative coordinator of Dr. K M Cherain Heart foundation, Parumala's first super specialty center in a village, Kerala.
