Dr. Saira Hameed is a Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, a Senior Tutor in the Imperial College School of Medicine and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College London.
Dr Hameed completed her pre-clinical training at Oxford University, graduating with First Class Honours. She went on to clinical training at University College London (UCL) during which time she undertook a Studentship in Endocrinology at the Mayo Clinic in the United States. She qualified in 2002, with distinctions in Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology and Pathology, winning prizes across subjects including Medicine, Surgery and Pathology and as one of the highest ranked medical students in the whole of the University of London was named proxime accessit to the University of London Gold Medal.
Dr. Hameed completed her postgraduate training in London during which time she was awarded a prestigious Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Research Training Fellowship and undertook a PhD at Imperial College London, researching the neuroendocrinology of body weight, appetite and obesity.
On award of her PhD, she was appointed to an NIHR Clinical Lectureship during which time she designed and trialed the novel and highly effective Imperial-SatPro weight management program which is described in her new book, The Full Diet. Dr Hameed continues to focus on obesity research (tweeting personal views @DrSairaHameed) and in addition, teaches within the Imperial College School of Medicine.
