Dr. Saima Saleem is an Associate Professor at “Dr. A. Q. Khan Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (KIBGE), University of Karachi Dr. Saleem, has received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi in 2012 and Post Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences, Ohio University, the USA in 2013. Dr. Saleem has been awarded the status of “HEC Approved Ph.D. Supervisor” for Biological Science and her research activities encompass Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Coagulation & Homeostasis, and Platelet Aggregation. During her period of service at KIBGE, University of Karachi, Dr. Saleem has been continuously involved in teaching Human Molecular Genetics, Cancer Genetics, Biosafety and Bioethics, Current Advances in Biotechnology, Research Methodology, Biostatistics, and Research Communication Skills to M.Phil. and Ph.D. students form last 18 years. She has published several original research articles in the journal of high impact factors and organized national and international conferences and training programs.
Dr. Saima Saleem has been selected as an international BioRisk Master Trainer for Biosafety and Biosecurity by the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) and Safer Behaviors (SB), the USA for the behavioral-based professional biosafety training in Pakistan since 2018. She has been awarded the “Synthetic Biology: Biosecurity Fellowship Award” by John Hopkins, USA to develop the emerging biotechnology techniques in synthetic biology in 2017. She has also accomplished as a “Master Trainer for Biosafety” program and serving as coach and trainer for Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA) in collaboration with FOGARTY International Center, National Institute of Health (FIC-NIH), and Safer Behaviors (SB), the USA since 2016. She has been awarded an achievement award in recognition of rendering outstanding service, time, and commitment for the accomplishment of the “BioPrism” Biosafety Manual and Training Program from PBSA, Pakistan, and FIC-NIH, and Safer Behaviors, USA.

She is serving in a leadership capacity as an executive council member of American Association for Cancer Education (AACE), Sindh Chapter Head of Pakistan Biological Safety Association (PBSA), member executive council of Pakistan Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (PSBMB), and secretary for the Pakistan National Chapter of Organization for Women in Science for Developing World (OWSD). She is also a member of various other National and International societies like Clinical Oncology Society Australia (COSA), American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), International Academy of Oral Oncology (IAOO), German Genetics Society (GGS).

Her professional training skills for biosafety and biosecurity enable her to initiate safe laboratory behaviors and practices. Her research outcomes and training would significantly by providing a vision of understanding in the field of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering focusing on Cancer Biology and Thrombosis research by providing rapid, efficient, and cost effective methods of early diagnosis. These training and teaching programs will be beneficial to serve students and faculty members to promote better scientific culture at the institute and provided the opportunity to serve humanity at large.
