Dr. Sahaj Rathi, M.D., DM, MRCP, is a physician and specialist in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at VCU Health and a key faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition within the Department of Internal Medicine. He practices at the VCU Medical Center Gateway Building, Stony Point 9105, and the Adult Outpatient Pavilion in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Rathi received his medical degree from the Armed Forces Medical College and completed his residency at the University College of Medical Sciences. He pursued fellowship training at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research and the University of British Columbia, further advancing his expertise in transplant hepatology and complex endoscopic techniques.

As a hepatologist and therapeutic endoscopist, Dr. Rathi focuses on advanced endoscopy procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to diagnose and treat liver, pancreas, bile duct, and other digestive tract conditions, often reducing the need for more invasive surgery. Before joining VCU Health in 2024, he served as an assistant professor of hepatology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, India, where he performed thousands of advanced therapeutic procedures and mentored trainees.
