Dr. Sadhana Dharmapuri, an assistant professor of pediatrics, has recently joined the Department of Pediatrics as chief of adolescent medicine. After receiving a B.A. in English literature from Boston University, Dharmapuri earned an M.D. at the Karol Marcinkowski University of Medical Science, Poznan, Poland, in 2003. She did her residency training in pediatrics from 2004-07 at the University of Illinois at Chicago, then went on to pursue a fellowship in adolescent medicine at Children's National Medical Center, Washington, D.C, from 2008-11.

In 2011, she joined the Division of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and served as director of the Eating Disorder Program at the Children's Hospital of Wisconsin from 2012-15. Dharmapuri is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine, and the International Association of Adolescent Health. She has been an invited speaker at several national and regional lecture series as an expert in adolescent health and eating disorders.

In addition to her expertise in eating disorders, she has served as principal investigator for two Healthier Wisconsin Partnership grants, partnering with a rural community to address its youth substance abuse issues, implement intervention and prevention strategies and contribute to policy changes affecting youth services.
