Dr. R. Sacha Bhatia is a health policy researcher with significant experience in health policy. He is the national Evaluation Lead for Canada’s Choosing Wisely Campaign – an effort to help clinicians and patients engage in conversations about unnecessary tests and treatments to reduce harm and improve care, while saving our healthcare system money.
Dr. Bhatia has published in peer-reviewed journals, such as New England Journal of Medicine and the CMAJ. He has also presented at national and international meetings, such as the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association Scientific Sessions. From January 2008 to December 2009, he was the Premier of Ontario's health, research and innovation policy advisor.
He sits on the Mission Committee of the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the cardiovascular working group of the Ontario Health Study, and advises the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, hospitals and other healthcare organizations on various health systems issues, including strategic planning and quality improvement.
