Sabine Kastner is a Professor of Neuroscience and Psychology in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute (PNI) and in the Department of Psychology. She also serves as the Scientific Director of the Scully Center’s neuroimaging facility. Dr. Kastner studies the neural basis of visual perception, attention, and awareness in the primate brain. Dr. Kastner earned an M.D. (1993) and PhD (1994) degree and received postdoctoral training at the Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysical Chemistry (Goettingen, Germany) and NIMH (Bethesda, MD) before joining the faculty at Princeton University in 2000.
She teaches introductory cognitive neuroscience and offers an introduction to clinical neuropsychology through the discussion of individual case studies on a regular basis (in addition to a number of high-level specialized seminars). In her spare time, Sabine enjoys playing Beatles songs on the bass guitar, studying modern art, and reading literature in her native German. You can often find Sabine and her son Benjamin on scooters around Princeton.
