Sabela Lens is a Hepatologist in the Liver Unit at the Hospital Clínic of Barcelona in Spain. She achieved her medical degree at the University of Santiago de Compostela, Spain, and subsequently specialised in digestive diseases at Hospital Clínic of Barcelona. She subsequently achieved a PhD MD in medicine and a master in clinical research in liver diseases at the University of Barcelona. Dr Lens’ scientific scope includes mainly clinical and translational research on viral hepatitis with a particular focus on the virological and host factors involved in the natural history of HCV and HBV infection.
She has recently made relevant scientific contributions regarding the impact of HCV all-oral antiviral treatments in special populations such as patients with clinical significant portal hypertension or with cryoglobulinaemic vasculitis. Dr Lens is a principal investigator or sub-investigator in multiple clinical trials in the field of viral hepatitis that have been published in international journals. She is a member of the European and Spanish Associations for the study of the Liver and a Board member of the Catalan Society of Digestive Diseases.
