S. Lale Tokgozoglu MD, FACC, FESC

S. Lale Tokgozoglu, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.E.S.C graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine. After completing the Internal Medicine Residency program there, she completed a fellowship program at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Tokgözoğlu returned to Hacettepe University where she is currently a Professor of Cardiology. After serving as Executive Committee member and general secretary in European Atherosclerosis Society, Prof. Tokgözoğlu was elected as President of the European Atherosclerosis Society for the term 2017-2021.

Prof. Tokgozoglu has served as the President of the Turkish Society of Cardiology between 2014-2016 being the first female President of the Society in history. She has chaired the” Atherosclerosis and Vascular Biology Working Group” of the European Society of Cardiology between 2008 and 2010. Prof. Tokgözoğlu has served on the Board of the Prevention Association of the European Society of Cardiology. She has served on the board of the European Society of Cardiology Fellowship and Training Committee and on the board of the Education Committee. She has also served on the executive committee of the International Society of Atherosclerosis.

Prof Tokgozoglu has founded and chaired the Istanbul Consortium Chapter of the American College of Cardiology in 2010 which is a consortium of 10 countries. She was elected to be the European representative of the American College of Cardiology Assembly of International Governors Steering Committee in 2015. She was elected to the Science Academy in 2014.
