Ryuichi Nishinakamura is a Professor at Kumamoto University, Kumamoto, Japan. He completed his PhD at the University of Tokyo. He completed his MD at the University of Tokyo. Prof. Ryuichi Nishinakamura (Department of Kidney Development, Institute of Molecular Embryology and Genetics (IMEG), Kumamoto University) was able to generate the last of a three-part puzzle that we had been working on for several years. Once the three pieces were combined, the resulting structure was found to be kidney-like in its architecture. We believe that our work will be used to advance kidney research and even lead to transplantable organs in the future.
Professor Ryuichi Nishinakamura of the Kumamoto University Institute of Embryonic Medicine is taking on the challenge of regenerating the kidney. He spent 20 years clearing up two of the three processes necessary to create kidneys and is working hard on research to overcome the remaining challenges. Professor Nishinakamura always sees dialysis patients waiting impatiently for kidney transplants in front of his field of vision.
