Ryan R. Knapp MD

Ryan Knapp MD, as Chief Medical Officer (CMO). He will begin his new role on May 31, 2021, and will succeed Gregory Hardy MD, who has served as Stephens’ CMO since 2016. In his new role, Dr. Knapp will serve as the senior physician leader of the hospital and will be responsible for the quality and safety of care provided to patients of Stephens, and for the strategic growth and development of all clinical services offered by the local healthcare system.

The CMO serves as the primary clinical liaison between the Medical Staff, Local Board, and Stephens’ Leadership. He will work closely with his CMO colleagues across the MaineHealth system to design and implement system-wide initiatives, including the launch of the MaineHealth Medical Group. Dr. Knapp will continue to work clinically in the Stephens Emergency Department. Dr. Knapp is an outstanding and trusted leader.
