Dr. Ryan K. Fawley is a board-certified gastroenterologist, physician, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He specializes in comprehensive gastroenterology, with expertise in diagnosing and treating disorders of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, and pancreas, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), eosinophilic esophagitis, celiac disease, peptic ulcer disease, and chronic abdominal pain. He also performs advanced endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.
Dr. Fawley is recognized for his patient-centered approach, emphasizing clear communication, shared decision-making, and personalized treatment plans that integrate medical, dietary, and lifestyle interventions. His research interests focus on patient education, safety, and improving access to colorectal cancer screening. He has served on committees of the American College of Gastroenterology and has contributed to initiatives aimed at reducing healthcare disparities through expanded access to preventive care.
Before joining Ohio State, Dr. Fawley served as a Medical Officer in the United States Navy for 11 years, holding leadership roles including Chair of Gastroenterology at Naval Medical Center San Diego. He earned his MD from Northeast Ohio Medical University and completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship through Naval Medical Center training programs. A dedicated educator and mentor, he is committed to advancing evidence-based medicine while fostering compassionate, high-quality patient care.
