Ryan D. Meade BA, JD, CHRC, CHC-F

Ryan Meade is an attorney and consultant in Chicago, Illinois who focuses his professional work on health care regulatory issues. He is also an academic, teaching graduate-level courses at both Loyola University and Rush University in Chicago. Ryan is a partner in the law firm of Meade & Roach, LLP and a managing director of Aegis Compliance & Ethics Center, LLP.

Ryan focuses his legal practice and consulting work on regulatory compliance matters for health care organizations, concentrating principally on Medicare/Medicaid billing compliance, clinical trial research compliance, and health information management and HIPAA compliance. Ryan also provides legal advice in health care fraud and abuse analysis. He serves as counsel to compliance committees and has developed compliance programs for a wide variety of health care providers. Currently, he is a member of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Compliance Effectiveness Pilot Project Advisory Committee.

Ryan’s most recent focus within health care regulatory matters is in the area of clinical trials billing compliance. He has represented and worked with providers to design clinical trials billing processes that meet the complex Medicare billing rules and has negotiated resolution of clinical trials billing issues with the federal government. Ryan represented Rush University Medical Center in its landmark settlement with the government related to clinical trials billing overpayments.

Ryan is active in academic pursuits. He is an adjunct professor of law at Loyola University Chicago School of Law where he teaches one of the few Medicare law courses in the country. Ryan is also an assistant professor at Rush University in Chicago. He has taught health law courses at Rush University in both the College of Health Sciences and the Medical College.

Ryan has been published in The Journal of Health Care Compliance, Compliance Today, BNA Medical Research Law Reporter, Business Law Today and a host of other publications. He currently is working on a book designed to explain the basic principles of Medicare to physicians. Ryan is a frequent lecturer throughout the country. He currently serves as one of the featured lecturers for the Compliance Education Series, a collection of DVD training and education videos provided by Aegis Compliance & Ethics Center, LLP. Ryan also serves as an editor of the Health Care Compliance Professional's Handbook.
