Dr. Ruth Hannan completed her Bachelor of Science (Behavioural) degree at Monash University.She developed a keen interest in cardiovascular research during her Honours year in Monash University's Department of Pharmacology, graduating in 1998.She then continued her studies in this field, focussing on the interaction between angiotensin II receptor subtypes in modulating tone in the vasculature, and was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in 2003.

dr. Ruth then undertook a post-doctoral research position at RMIT University's School of Medical Sciences, working with the Microvascular Biology Research Group, with the support of a National Heart Foundation Fellowship.In January 2007, Ruth joined the Centre for Clinical Research Excellence within the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, Monash University.She is based at the Department's Clinical Trials Centre, at Caulfield General Medical Centre, where she is working as a research fellow.
