Dr. Russell G. Volpe is a Professor, and Past Chair, in the Department of Pediatrics and Orthopedics at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine/Foot Center of New York, where he has taught since 1985. He was founding Chair of the Department of Pediatrics from 1993-2006. Also, he was on the Adjunct faculty of the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt College from 2003-2008 and he served as Medical Consultant to Langer Biomechanics, Inc. from 1992 – 2002.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Podiatric Medicine since 1988. Dr. Volpe is co-editor, with Peter Thomson, of Introduction to Podopediatrics, 2nd edition published in 2001 by Elsevier. Dr. Volpe is a member of the Vasyli Think Tank which was founded to foster collaboration and cooperative thought amongst a leading group of health professionals specializing in the field of lower limb biomechanics.

Dr. Volpe is on the editorial advisory board of, Podiatry Today magazine. He writes articles regularly on the child’s foot and contributes an occasional blog on topics of interest in podiatric medicine for the magazine. He serves as a reviewer on Pediatrics topics for the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association. Dr. Volpe participated in a technical evaluation of “Back-to-school-shoes” for Good Housekeeping magazine.

Dr. Volpe lectures widely on the pediatric foot including at most major US Podiatric conferences including the New York Clinical Conference, the Western and Midwest Podiatry Conferences and for many years he has been a regular participant at the annual International Foot Biomechanics/PFOLA conferences. Internationally, Dr. Volpe has lectured in Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, England, and Scotland and was the keynote speaker at the 2006 Dutch Podiatry Congress in Doorn, The Netherlands.
