Dr. Ruemu Ejedafeta Birhiray is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist and Partner of Hematology-Oncology of Indiana, a Division of American Oncology Network in Indianapolis, Indiana. Dr. Birhiray is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Chair and Founder of Indy Hematology Review, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Indy Hematology Education, Inc., and an Attending Physician in medical oncology, hematology and hematopoietic cell transplantation at St. Vincent’s Hospital.

Dr. Birhiray earned his medical degree from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Columbus Hospital, in affiliation with Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He completed fellowships in bone marrow transplant and medical Oncology at Johns Hopkins University and The National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, MD. Prior to joining Hematology-Oncology of Indiana, Dr. Ruemu Birhiray practiced medical oncology at Marshfield Cancer Center in Marshfield, Wisconsin, where he served as director of the Bone Marrow Transplant Program.

Dr. Birhiray is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, American Medical Association, and the Wisconsin Medical Society. A Principal Investigator and Founder of the Research Program at Hematology Oncology of Indiana, Dr. Birhiray is also a Clinical Inspector for the Foundation for the Accreditation of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation. Dr. Birhiray has an extensive research background and conducted numerous clinical trials. He has published on the subjects of breast cancer, gene therapy, immunotherapy, lymphomas, and bone marrow transplantation.
