Rudolf Fahlbusch MD

Professor Fahlbusch was professor and chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University Clinic of Erlangen and, during the same period, also directed the Neurosurgery Clinic - one of the largest clinics of this type in Germany- and an internationally renowned facility. His clinical and research specialties are pituitary surgery with introduction of endocrinology to neurosurgery and intra-surgical neurophysiological monitoring. During the past ten years, Prof. Fahlbusch has devoted himself to the introduction of engineering and the computer sciences in brain surgery. The establishment of one of the most modern operating theaters in the world with functional neuronavigation and intraoperative magnetic resonance tomography, as well as a unique, interdisciplinary Neurocenter at the Head Clinic in Erlangen has earned him international recognition.
