Roy S. Gardner was the lead cardiologist for the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service, and have special interests in advanced heart failure, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and complex device implantation. He was the Deputy Chair of the British Society for Heart Failure (BSH), a clinical expert for NICE, and an Honorary Professor at the University of Glasgow. He has an active research profile and he was also the author/editor of two books published by Oxford University Press: The Oxford Textbook of Heart Failure, and the Oxford Specialist Handbook of Heart Failure.
