Dr. Roy Muljadi Soetikno is affiliated with El Camino Hospital Mountain View in California. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Medical Education at Northwestern University, Visiting Clinical Professor at UC San Francisco, and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Indonesia.

He Graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985, Dr. Soetikno earned his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1990. He then went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University in 1993, before obtaining his Master of Science degree in Health Services and completing his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at Stanford University in 1996 and 1997, respectively.

Wanting to further his education, he completed advanced therapeutic endoscopy training at Harvard University, followed by an additional fellowship in gastrointestinal oncology and endoscopic ultrasound at UC Irvine in 1998. Later, he completed his Master of Business Administration degree with a focus on strategy and design at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2017, and earned his Certificate in Design Thinking from the Hasso Plattner Institute in 2021.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Soetikno is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), a Fellow of the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE), and a Fellow of the Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society (FJGES).

Throughout his illustrious career, he has published hundreds of peer-reviewed articles on endoscopy training as well as several key works on the endoscopic management of nonpolypoid colorectal neoplasms and inflammatory bowel disease. In the past, he has served as the Chief of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Palo Alto VA Healthcare System, and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University and Duke-NUS Medical School.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

In 2014, Dr. Soetikno was awarded the highest honor from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the Master Endoscopist Award, in recognition of his impactful contributions to the field of endoscopy and endoscopy training. He was also awarded the Basil Hirschowitz Award in 2015 for his significant contributions to the field of endoscopy.
