Roy D. Bloom, MD is the Medical Director of the Kidney/Pancreas Transplant Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Bloom received his undergraduate degree and medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He completed his residency in medicine and general surgery at Johannesburg Hospital in 1984. He completed fellowships at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and (renal medicine) and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Renal-Electrolyte and Hypertension Division).
He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. His clinical and other interests include Kidney and pancreas transplantation, Hepatitis C in kidney disease and transplantation, new onset diabetes in transplantation, kidney disease in solid organ transplant recipients, and immunosuppression in clinical transplantation.
