Dr. Toledano has had an accomplished academic career that rivals most. After graduating from medical school from Wake Forest University and anesthesia residency from the University of Virginia, she completed a fellowship in obstetrical anesthesia at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Subsequently, she became Director of Obstetric Anesthesia at Tulane Medical Center. Currently, she acts as Director of Obstetric Anesthesia at NYU Lutheran Medical Center.
Dr. Toledano has written, presented posters, and lectured internationally on the gamut of OB topics, including physiologic adaptations to pregnancy, labor epidurals, failed regional anesthesia in obstetrics, complications from combined spinal-epidural anesthesia, preeclampsia, thrombocytopenia in pregnancy, maternal fever, obstetric emergencies, urologic emergencies in pregnancy, maternal catastrophes, local anesthetic systemic toxicity, non-obstetric surgery, malignancy in pregnancy, myasthenia gravis, von Willebrand’s disease, and HIV in pregnancy. She has authored numerous chapters in major textbooks, including Schider and Levinson’s Anesthesia for Obstetrics and the Oxford Textbook of Obstetric Anaesthesia.
